Travel Plans for Paris in September 2023

Last year I planned to share our travel plans for our trip to Greece in May but due to a lot of interferences I didn’t get a chance to do that. A lot of things were going on in the early part of 2022 that prevented me from getting serious about writing up the experience.

This year we have plenty of time in advance to plan, and to get our ducks in a row for a trip to Paris and England.

A close friend of ours has an inroad to stay at another friend’s apartment in Paris for the first week. Alison grew up in Paris and has maintained connections over the years.

As it stands right now, we plan to go from Rochester to Paris during the last week of September and then around 1 October take the fast train from Paris to London and spend two weeks in England.

Joni’s ancesters come from the Bath region of England and mother grew up in Suffolk England about 90 miles north east of London. So we will spend time in both those places and basically wander around southern England. At the end of that part of the trip will go back to Paris on the train, and then fly home from there.

We have a friend who works for a travel agency and we’re going to contact them this week and have them begin the search for some good airfares. We will probably go premium economy instead of business class because of our experience last year on our trip to Athens.

I’m already planning to buy some lightweight washable clothing, so we won’t need to carry so much stuff with us this time. I still have my doubts about how I’m going to feel in terms of wandering around the countryside. Last year it was very difficult to keep walking and walking and going to many places which I’m not gonna do this year.

I’ve told Joni this before and if she forgets she’ll be reminded before we go. Side trips are OK, but I’m not going to 14 different towns in three weeks, It’s very tiring and you never really get a chance to see anything, Being constantly on the move is not that much fun,

So, for now, that’s where the trip stands. As the plans develop more I’ll share them with you so you can see how we go about our planning and what information we find that may be useful to everyone. As I’ve said before, we don’t take tours, we like to make our plans in advance and then once we get to our main destinations, we go on our own. Freewheeling it has always proven to be much more interesting than taking a planned tour.

You never know what you might stumble upon when you head out on the road by yourself.
