How to live with the Covid Pandemic

Last Updated on June 1, 2024 by Daniel

The past two years have proved to be a challenge under the constant threat of covid news.

Nothing has been the same from the first indications that the pandemic was upon us.

Daily we are bombarded with fear and uncertainty especially from sources we are supposed to trust. No one seems clear about the nature of the virus, the means of transmission, whether or not masks provide any serious protection. Every night on the nightly news the first words out of the “reporters” mouths is covid, covid, covid.

What is one to do?

If you listen to Dr, Fauci, your head begins to spin. And, if you broaden out your reference sources, hundreds of educated and highly regarded scientists tell a much less threatening story.

Today I read that Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and a few other European countries haveabandoned their restrictions and allowing their countries to reopen and move back to business as usual.

Thank goodness someone is thinking realistically.

I don’t mean to give you the impression that you shouldn’t be prudent about this virus. By all means get the vaccine and boosters, if you feel it is in your best interests to do so.

But also try to remain open to all the information that is available. Fear can have a devastating impact on your emotional well being.

All too often, the powers that be throw out the baby with the bath water more in the interests of party politics then the general welfare. But, as the evidence begins to show that the costs of all the economic restrictions far exceed the benefits, we are beginning to see a slow return to normalcy.

In October 2019 we had made plans to travel to Greece. Airbnb was reserved, plane fare almost confimed and wham. Everyhing was put on hold.

Luckily for us the owners of the home we had rented on Santorini have allowed us to change the reservation three times. And as I write this we are again in the process of booking our flights for a trip this coming May.

I’m in the process of wriing about our plans and what we hope to do as we wander about Greece and the greek islands.

I’m sure it’s going to be a lot warmer there then it is right now here in Western New York.

Well that’s it for today.

I hope everyone is doing well and looking forward to a more open and peaceful world.

Peace.
